Spring Fling 2007

Last night was Spring Fling. It is our way to get together to honor retiring teachers from Hanford Elementary. It was great fun to see friends. Previously retired teachers attend and we can catch up on their lives. Tonight, we honored Georgina Snyder. April Silva, our HETA president lead the event. She is organized, thoughtful, humorous, and a great leader!
Enjoy the pictures of these great people and dedicated teachers of Hanford Elementary!

For Georgina Snyder's retirement, Kathy Rose entertained us with great stories of Georgina's past. Georgina has taught 36 years. She was Cory's 2nd grade teacher. (Also pictured, Elena Roth, Cory's kindergarten teacher and Mike Rogers, Cory's 5th grade teacher.)

Alycin karioke was fun! Bad, but fun!
Georgina speaks with elequence and grace.

Farmers Market

I had to make several dozen muffins for Marlene to take to school for those ravenous teachers. Many varieties are represented.
This was a busy place and perfect weather. The band wasn't the greatest.

Cory, I threw this one in for Joe. It'll probably make him cry.

I thought I'd take a bunch of pictures. Well the battery lasted about four pictures. Saw Vince and Heather and others. The food smelled really good.

preacher turned trucker

Was it a mob hit by his teamster buddies from the east coast that ruined his knee and put him in the hospital??? He refuses to talk about it other than to say it was God's will. Stay tuned for more of the story.

Post birthday, Pre mother's day

Marlene insisted that I put up a better picture of her than the one that was on the birthday blog. I think this is a great picture. She looks really good for having taught school for 34 years, don't you think?
That's me on top of the roof of the 11th Ave house. It's getting hot here and I had to get the cooler ready to go. There is so much to do over there.

I also just finished putting in a sprinkling system. Imagine that....we've only owned the house for 30 years and it just got sprinklers!!

Marlene's Birthday

This was part of dinner...artichoke, black olive and pepperoni pizza from that famous pizza place on the west coast.

We had a great time taking pictures of each other with the cameras. We found the digital camera takes much better stills than the new camcorder. Our friends and yours were here to help celebrate. Paul and Susan and Larry and Jeanine.

Dottie is always on guard for those big brown trucks that just drive her crazy.

We had a cookie sampler instead of a cake.

Darlene and Clayton came over to say Happy Birthday. She is still having a hard time of it but she is better than anyone thought she would be at this point.

There have been some changes to the backyard. It is still a work in progress. The grass isn't in yet and some of the plants got hit hard by the freezes we had in Jan. The sprinklers are in and the electical is about done so it shouldn't be too long before the grass goes in.

My Amarilis have bloomed like never before. Unfortunately they don't last long, but they are really cool when they are out.

Well that's about all there is for this time. I'm amazed that we got this much put up. I hope I can remember how to do it the next time. I think there is an easier way to do the pictures but I don't know how just yet. See you soon.
